EVAC Membrane Bioreactor Solutions

The EVAC membrane bioreactor – MBR system allows private yachts, cruise liners, ferries, naval vessels and others, operating in environmentally sensitive areas, to treat and discharge all wastewaters generated by passengers and crew, to sea, without threat to health or the environment. The MBR is a proven, very low maintenance technology, capable of filtering out particles as small as viruses, and its compact footprint makes it ideal for retrofitting to existing vessels as well as for installing on new ships.

The MBR’s certification to new IMO MEPC.159(55) requirements make this an attractive alternative for the treatment of black water on passenger ferries and cruise vessels operating insensitive oceanic and territorial areas. The whole Evac MBR process, including equalizing, mixing and pre-filtration stages can be fitted in less than three-quarters of the space required by conventional biological treatment systems, at the same cost – with guaranteed effluent quality!

Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD)

An excerpt from the Brundtland Report Our Common Future”, states:

‘Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’

At H.I.Fraser, we take environmental awareness seriously and hence have actively targeted ways to support the building industry in supplying environmentally aware solutions for black and grey water collection, reuse and discharge.

As the Australian agents for EVAC, we have introduced to the building industry, the same economical and water saving vacuum black and grey water systems used in almost all of the world’s largest cruise liners. Through the adaptation and specialized design of these units, not only does this offer a tailored environmentally aware solution for “Green Buildings”, it also exceeds the deemed to satisfy requirements for water use, giving architects the freedom to use this as an offset in other areas of the design. Additionally, due to the small, economical and high efficiency design, the unit takes up the smallest footprint in its class, offering up to 50% more net leasable space as compared to any other system supplier.

Utilizing dry vein claw pumps to eliminate excessive water use and wasted space with heat exchangers and toilets delivering a superior response with only 1.2 litres of water per flush, H.I.Fraser aims to stand up as a company who recognizes the need to - “prevent and reverse the adverse impacts of economic and social activities on the ecosystem.”(Excerpt from the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts website)
